And so the end of the year had finally arrived.
The year's bitter winter had left the young idol shivering in his luxurious coat, yearning for a sip of the promised hot tea; he waited impatiently as the back stage's kettle boiled. The handsome male gave a soft sigh as he wrapped his arms around his rather slender frame, slightly nervous for the night to come. It was the 62nd annual Kouhaku Uta Gassen, a Japanese New Years tradition that featured only the year's best and most popular musicians. Growing up, the program was what Sakura had always looked forward to - he never imagined that he would have the opportunity to perform on the show.
The kettle gave a single beep, the rapid chugging of the bubbles steadily slowing down.
"Finally," the whitenette muttered under his breath as he poured the steaming water into a cup. This was such a high-end event yet they didn't have tea pre-made? Not to mention that the room was freezing. Maybe he was just early? The guests weren't supposed to come for another hour anyway. But as to his company's request, he was to arrive early. He was well known among businesses for his horrible punctuality and his forced resolution was to change that.
The green tea bag dipped in and out of the cup, turning the clear water to a light, leafy shade. The smell was fresh and faint and its taste carried an exquisite bitterness. The liquid warmed his body from the inside, cooling in his belly like lava. Drinking something so hot after escaping the frigid weather was one of Sakura's pleasures.

A sense of relief overcame the teen as another presence entered the room. It was reassuring to know that he wouldn't have to wait alone for hours up until the time for the final rehearsal. Mug in hand, the teen's person shifted, catching sight of a tawny belle whose eyes twinkled like amethysts; she seemed only a few years his junior. Sakura's crimson orbs rested on newcomer, her dainty features striking a sense of familiarity in the snowy locked male.
An idol? He was quite acquainted with the names and faces of Afternoon Delight and a good portion of GEM247 so he was quite sure that this girl wasn't in either of them. Maybe she was in that new group in suburban Tokyo? lamB or something similar to that. Sakura's attention waned, turning back towards the refreshments table as he took another sip of his tea.
"You want some?" he spoke suddenly, breaking the dense silence. His crimson eyes mirrored the dull tone in his voice, his boredom with the stadium's sleepiness evident. Why did he have to come so early?

Hayato was running late...again. Honestly, he wondered why he had yet to be replaced as the leader of SUPER☆RANGERS. Really, he couldn't even tell you how he had landed the position in the first place. He was like a giant kid most of the time - and he wasn't afraid to admit it. He couldn't help but wonder who had decided that he would be good as the leader of SUPER☆RANGERS because he certainly didn't feel like it.
After all, who had heard of a leader who arrived late to at least half of the events that he was supposed to attend? Hayato certainly couldn't think of any. However, he somehow doubted that his position would change anytime soon - even with how serious their manager was. Hayato personally thought that she needed to loosen up...not that he'd ever admit it out loud. Hayato hadn't even told Shiro what he thought of their manager and he was pretty much the only one that Hayato felt like he could really get along with from SUPER☆RANGERS - although, if he thought about it, that might be related to the fact that they were the two more well-known members of SUPER☆RANGERS.
Okay, people DID know Sakura (or Dragon, whatever you want to call him) but Hayato thought it was for all the wrong reasons.
Arriving at the Tokyo Dome, he quickly headed toward the room that he had been told to go to before the show started. When he did enter, though, he noticed that the only other person from his group that seemed to be there was Sakura...and Hayato had been hoping that it would be Shiro...but one couldn't always get what they wanted. There was a girl there as well but he didn't really recognize her.
Walking over to Sakura, Hayato voiced out his question, "Who's your new friend, Hitori?" | 314 WORDS |

Another familiar presence entered the room, his voice breaking the silence as Sakura waited for the girl to speak. He was tall with milky skin, fine locks of royal tufts swooped handsomely across his poised features. His azure eyes beamed a sense of elegance (at least that's how Sakura had seen it) and it irritated the whitenette to no end. The newcomer was none other than the SUPER✩RANGERS' leader - and the teen's appointed rival - Hayato Moriyama. Both of the young men were handsome thus attracting their fair share of female admirers and their dispositions were on opposite sides of the spectrum, fabricating the manufactured rivalry of Bad Boy versus Nice Guy. A relationship only to exist on camera had leaked into Sakura's personal feelings through his own stupidity, leading Sakura to act rather cold towards the leader at times.
"I dunno who she is," the idol answered nonchalantly before glancing back at young girl, "But she's a cutie, ain't she?" He gave a soft chuckle as he took a sip of his warm beverage. He wrapped his hands around the mug, feeling the warmth rush through his body, his crimson orbs focused more intensely on the familiar face, trying to place her identity. "...A model, maybe?" he murmured to himself. That's right, he did recall seeing her on a magazine or something. Not like anyone payed much attention to models in the first place, they take a minute to be recognized in person and their names go virtually unknown. What a waste, she should've become an idol where one can be a pop star, actor, and model - a triple threat!
His mind wandered off as he recalled the benefits of being a famous pop star. Ah, what a life he lived.

Hitori was pretty much the only one in SUPER☆RANGERS that Hayato didn't get along with too well and, to be honest, he couldn't remember when it had apparently stopped being something that they did just in front of the cameras. He didn't know what he had done but he couldn't really say that he was surprised. Aside from SUPER☆RANGERS, Moriyama Hayato and Hitori Sakura had next to nothing in common with one another. He probably should have seen it coming. There was no love lost between them, though. While the rest of the agency probably assumed that it was strictly a rivalry in front of the cameras (since it had been their idea), Hayato was pretty sure that everyone in SUPER☆RANGERS could tell that it had never been entirely staged - even if Shiro had been the only one he had told about that particular detail.
He had been so lost in his own thoughts that he had almost missed the fact that Hitori had responded to him. A model, eh? That would explain why he hadn't recognized her. He wasn't exactly known for following the latest fashions...that was something he left for his imouto. He chuckled as he replied to his group's so-called bad boy, "A model? Yeah, I could definitely picture her on the front cover of a magazine." As fun as it was to disagree with his colleague, Hayato wasn't going to deny what he actually thought of the girl simply because he liked disagreeing with Hitori whenever he had the chance.
Hayato took out his phone to check the time. Were he and Hitori the only members of SUPER☆RANGERS that were supposed to be here or was everyone just running later than he was for a change? Letting out a sigh, he asked, "Are the others coming by later or is it just us today?" He certainly hoped that the others were coming by...he wasn't too sure he could handle being alone with Hitori. | 333 WORDS open |
