THE MAGICIAN
I BELIEVED IT WAS INEVITABLE. AT A TIME LIKE THAT, WORDS LOST THEIR MEANING AND MY BODY SET INTO MOTION, LOOKING FOR YOU. I ESCAPED FROM REALITY, BUT YOU WEREN'T THERE EITHER.

ESSENTIALS
PERSONALITY He's all about playing the game and working the system; shaking hands with the right man, sending flowers to the right girl. Tsubaki's a smooth talker with a lazy lilt to his voice that makes him sound all the more at ease and self-confident. However, he's not all business — rather, Tsubaki abhors thinking too seriously one subject for too long. The type of person who generally dislikes endlessly mulling over something, who would make important decisions on impulse, just because it's less of a waste of time.
Sure, he can work his way with words, but actions get you somewhere faster. You could say this cheeky kid is an impatient one.
Of course, if Tsubaki feels like there's something worth putting his time and dedication into, he won't throw a tantrum so easily. Contrary, the young man is surprisingly more tolerant, not typically phased by criticism or attacks on his persona. Insults are taken with a grain of salt and critique is actually earnestly delved into, in Tsubaki's case. While he's not a perfectionist by any means, all opportunities to make himself look better and help enliven his fan-base is appreciated.
Personally, he doesn't quite know how to feel about his fans — most likely a mixture of borderline discomfort and a subdued fondness. As for everyone else, Tsubaki doesn't play favorites; he teases, mocks, and pranks everyone all equally, much to their chagrin. If anyone manages to keep up with his pace, that's a feat he believes is worth some amount of respect. Unfortunately, that person would probably end up an even bigger target of his silly whimsies. Considering how intrusive and insensitive he can be, the odds of being embarrassed are high.
HISTORY It would have been easier if his parents were foreign ambassadors or part of the Illuminati, but as a young boy in Ikebukuro, his memories were filled with — panty shots. Kitty ears. Sometimes, even strange, otherworldly items that probably didn't belong to this universe.
As one can conclude, Tsubaki spent his youth in a cosplay cafe aptly named, COSPRAYU. His mother's sense of humor was decidedly an acquired taste. While his lifestyle was anything but normal, he learned very quickly that it could have been worse. For one, Tsubaki could have been made to cosplay with his older sister, Hiromi, who, against all odds, actually seemed to enjoy it. Then, there was his older brother, Saeki, who was forced to dress as a butler and cater to their mother's needs. Sure, he looked like he didn't mind it at all, but Tsubaki knew very well of his inner plight.
In no way desiring to be taken advantage of by his scarily persuasive mother, Tsubaki sought work after school on the streets — merely an excuse to spend time away from the cafe that doubled as their home. The odd jobs he would do ranged from heavy lifting to, his personal favorite, street performing. Magic tricks were his specialty, but it couldn't really be said that Tsubaki was actually good at them. Rather, he was sloppy and clumsy, failing to instill any sense of wonder and bewilderment into his audience; instead, all he got out of them was some pity and a thumbs up for effort.
If someone were to ask him about the experience, he'd laugh it off and, with a bright smile, say, "It sucked!"
At school, Tsubaki had been well-liked enough by both his peers and underclassmen, but on the occasion that someone asked him to name his closest friends, he wouldn't be able to. While his classmates all went out to karaoke, Tsubaki was off making a little extra coin — just to feel like he was at least getting somewhere, little by little.
By the time graduation came along, everyone seemed to know what they were going to do — not to say that Tsubaki had absolutely no idea, because, at the very least, he had a vague impression of what he planned to do. Go to college, continue working part-time, probably dorm. Maybe after a year or two, maybe he could transfer to Toudai. Unlikely, but he wouldn't mind giving it a try.
That was his approach to most things. Want to try this cake full of dubious ingredients? Sure. Want to try on these skin-tight jeans made from actual crocodile leather? Sure. Want to be part of a boy band?
Sure.
It seemed as good as any opportunity, at the time.
APPEARANCE What can be concluded from just a once-over: Tsubaki takes care of himself. With his shirt off, it's more obvious that he has an athletic build; when he was in high school, the young man was part of a multitude of sports before quitting to work part-time. Not that Tsubaki excelled in any in particular — he was more of a jack of all trades. As for his complexion, Tsubaki remembers to exfoliate and moisturize, so it's a smooth and healthy pale.
COMMON WEAR Tsubaki tends to be more inclined towards designer brand clothes with a street punk flair; his wardrobe contains anything from hoodies to leather jackets, tailored suits to loose-fitting tanks. In public, Tsubaki would tell you his favorite outfit is all in all low-maintenance, that he throws whatever on without much thought. Afterwards, he would proceed to go on a long speel, detailing how he has a habit of going out in ill-matching clothes and how his friends have shepard him back into his house to change. In private, Tsubaki would tell you that only happened once and that he actually has a penchant for formal wear — suits, vests, ties.
OTHER FEATURES He has a faded scar on the palm of his left hand from a cooking accident.

OTHER INFORMATION
TALENTS & SKILLS Magic! From the time Tsubaki was a child, he's had a passion for mysterious bunnies pulled out of hats and slightly suspicious card tricks. He also enjoys doing impressions, though they're usually not the most accurate. His friends like to make fun of him, saying that he's probably more cut-out to be part of a comedy act than part of a boy band.
DISCOVERY As a previous street performer himself, it would only be natural to know others in the same profession. One day, Tsubaki had been asked to come and watch a local dancing group, by one of the members. Before the actual performance began, apparently one of their dancers had fallen ill at the last minute. Despite not knowing the routine at all, Tsubaki volunteered himself to be used as substitute, though the rest of the members were hesitant to actually let him. Eventually, they allowed him to dance, under the condition that he wouldn't get too ahead of himself and try to steal the spotlight.
...honestly, what did they expect? Surrounded by a crowd of people, how could he possibly resist the temptation?
Coincidentally, a scout had been one of the onlookers and, well, it's all history now.
ETCETERA

06 » as this wasn't mentioned in his history, tsubaki and his siblings were raised single-handedly by their mother!!! he's a mama's boy at heart and definitely appreciates her, but too many bad memories involving her hobbies
