PERSONALITY Alexei is an extremely closed-off person. Now, that statement could seem rather negative, but there is no malicious intent in the way he handles himself. He's just gotten very good at compartmentalizing over the years, especially in regards to personal matters. In general, he strives to be an extremely polite person, courteous to others even in light of potential rudeness. He does his best to give others second chances and fancies himself a sympathetic ear and a good shoulder to cry on should someone need help in any way. A good summary of a first expression for him would be a somewhat skittish but gentle and kind dandy. He cares a lot for others but there is a wall between himself and his acquaintances.
As time has passed though, cracks have developed in that wall. Little things, and quirks, slip by that hint at the things that Alexei tries to keep hidden. Ever since the accident, any confidence he may have had, or comfort he took in the limelight. has drained away. Truth be told, Alexei is a rather insecure person, lacking in self-esteem and constantly questioning his self-worth due to his inability to continue to pursue his own music skills.
But he bottles these things up, puts on a sheepish smile, and continues with life -- people have their own problems, and besides, it's not like his reputation needs to take any more hits, right?
HISTORY Like many prodigies, Alexei has roots in a wealthy family. The second child and the baby boy of the Reiss family, he was cherished and doted upon just like his older sister. In those younger years he wanted for nothing, although it wasn't like he asked for much either. He wasn't one of those impulsive children that had to have everything right now. Rather he was a quiet boy who wanted nothing more to make his parents proud. Shy, he stuck with his older sister more than anything else, following his sibling around and looking up to her for guidance.
Naturally with his personality type, he took well to the extracurricular activities his parents put him in when he began schooling. Most of all he exceeded in his music studies. He gravitated to the piano - one might say it was the first love of his life. Something about the instrument called to him and he took to it like a fish out of water. Day in and day out, he was there, playing and learning. Soon composing his own music and dabbling in a variety of styles. This was how he made some of his first and closest friends and the one he ended up striking it big with.
Soutarou was a foreign student who had moved to the country thanks to his family's business. They shared a passion for music and outside of his sister Souta became one of the people Alexei really opened up to. It helped as well that the meshed so well together with their hobbies, Alexei played piano and Soutarou sang and together they became rather well known for their talents. During a high school talent show they were discovered by some scouting agents and before he really truly knew what was going on they were catapulted into the limelight.
It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, it just happened so suddenly he wasn't sure how to handle it. Mostly, he let Souta do all the talking and be their 'voice' besides just singing. Alexei liked his piano and stuck with what he was good at, that and composing. Going through teenaged years was awkward enough as a normal kid but being famous on top of it just made things more complicated. He dealt with it though, and simply followed the steps given to him. So he didn't have much of a social life besides Souta and his family, at least he was making music, right?
Even though they had managed to 'make it' fairly young, Alexei still wanted to pursue college. So their concerts and everything got put on the back burner when he enrolled in classes at a music college in Leipzig. Everything went fairly well until his junior year, when commuting home during the winter. His car fishtailed into oncoming traffic and -- well
The results weren't good.
In those brief moments where his life had flashed before his eyes, Alexei had made peace with himself, he had lived a good life; if it ended now, so be it. But death wasn't in the cards for Alexei. He pulled through and survived, but the crash took something vital from him. With how the collision had happened, the dash and steering wheel collapsing in had wrecked havoc on his hands. He didn't lose them completely, but his manual dexterity took a big hit, and the nerve damage caused a recurring pain. Physical therapy helped ease him back into the day to day use of his hands, but playing piano was out of the question.
That news sent him in a downwards spiral of depression. Alexei withdrew from family and friends, even his sister and Soutarou weren't much help. He secluded himself in an effort to get away from everything. It wasn't like the paparazzi hounding him over the tragic accident of a music star helped things either.
He remained in that slump for some time before his sister finally managed to convince him to finish his degree and at least try to do something with his life. Still, things still seemed stuck in a daze and he hated living in an area where he was so recognizable. Talking with Souta and his family he decided it might be nice to get away and move somewhere where people didn't know him so well.
And so Alexei has settled in Japan and started teaching aspiring idols music and composition lessons. Perhaps not as glamorous as his old life, but it's enough for him.
APPEARANCE Thanks to his European heritage, Alexei stands out like a sore thumb in a location like Japan. Topping out at 6'1" he is fairly tall and his slender build enhances his willowy appearance. He's not exceedingly womanly, but he is slim, with lithe muscles, thus lending him a silhouette that matches more with a gymnast or a dancer than a heavy athlete. He wears his hair long, the silvery locks falling to his mid-back and often restrained in some form of a pony tail. His bangs frame his face, the gentle curve of his jaw giving him a mildly effeminate air. By far though, one of his most catching features are his eyes: he has heterochromia so one eyes is gold whilst the other is blue.
Fashion-wise, Alexei is a bit anachronistic as he prefers the clothing of yesteryear than more modern choices. He likes three piece suits with cravats, heavy overcoats and that sort of thing.
