Rayen can be a bit shy and a little reserved, when she's out on her own. She normally doesn't like to draw too much attention to herself and is usually a quiet person, who prefers jotting down notes and sketching out ideas. But, hiding behind the image of a perpetual wall flower, is a fiercely competitive person who is determined to make a name for herself. Even if that name isn't her given name. Rayen is a dedicated and hard working person, who values strong competition. There are few things more exhilarating than having a strong rival to push her to her limits. When she has one of her masks on, this side of her personality is often revealed. It's usually because this is where Rayen finds hereslf in “Performer Mode” and is always ready to put on a show.
But, for now, she tries to keep herself in check. Rayen is very careful in protecting her identity. She goes to great lengths to make sure that there are no details available on R0SWELL. The persona is meant to be a mystery, where not even her gender is entirely clear. When she does speak, she prefers to have lots of processing to make her voice unrecognizable. It usually fits in with her alien gimmick, slending to a far more otherworldly sound.
The identity of R0SWELL is that of a mysterious figure in the music scene who likes to send out cryptic messages and often participates in stunts to garner attention and creates graffiti tags to promote herself. She intends to use this identity to succeed where she failed herself. Becoming a successful musician. Knowing that the problem was with her shy nature, Rayen wanted to be different. She wanted to be as confident as her heroes looked on stage. So, she created a personality that would allow her to achieve these things. And perhaps one day, these two identities could finally merge into one person.
After all, Rayen hopes to become a more confident person. Having grown up as a nervous and skittish child, she has been trying her best not be so withdrawn when it comes to other people. She will try her best to speak, but when she's not using her alter ego's voice, it tends to come out in a nervous whisper. During social situations is when Rayen is often hyper critical of herself.
HISTORY
Rayen has always loved music. She followed a number idol groups, including Afternoon Delight. To her, they represented a type of confidence that she wished she could have. Born to a modest family of little reknown, she had longed for some excitement in her life. And while she was a fine singer, Rayen's shyness tended to hold her back. This was no better illustrated than when she first tried out for an idol group and found herself unable to join the ranks of those girls that had inspired her.
Dejected, Rayen retreated further into her shell and spent more time with computers than she did with people. This actually proved to quite helpful to her, in the long run, though. Online, she was exposed to an even bigger library of music. And in these communities she found that music's potential was limitless. Teaching herself to edit music, she started to experiment with sounds and her own voice. She even found herself drawn into hip-hop and electronica.
And as she experimented, Rayen started to hatch a plan. A plan that would take her out of her room and back into the real world, where she might be able to reach her goal. With the aid of a mask and loose fitting jumpsuit, she posted her first video. The rare image of this figure in a ski mask and a jumpsuit was a strange one to most people. But, the music started to get passed around, nonetheless. Soon, message boards were talking about the strange Masked DJ and speculation arose as to who it was and what they wanted to do.
While Rayen may not have been able to join that idol group, she had found herself a niche. She took up sewing next, so she could create more elaborate masks. Being as big a fan of science fiction as she was music, the logical next step was to blend her two interests together.
And so, her persona finally had a name: “R0SWELL”
The masks, although varied, remained consistent with the theme of aliens and otherworldly beings. It became a staple of her music to feature soundclips from old sci-fi movies and radio plays. In fact, anything she could find within that genre would work. Theme songs, sound effects. All blended into whichever digital compositions she could come up with.
APPEARANCE
For the most part, Rayen is fairly average looking. The thing that most stands out, however, is her skin. A darker tone, she is clearly of foreign decent. Her mother was of Native American heritage and her father was a Japanese citizen. So, while she takes after her mother in appearance, including her curly dark hair that she keeps in a short and still barely manageable cut, Rayen has spent her whole life in Japan.
COMMON WEAR
For the most part, Rayen will wear whatever may suit her needs. Be it a pair of jeans or a skirt, it rarely matters to her, so long as it's comfortable. She usually wears something with hood, typically so she can quickly pull it over her head and hide herself away. A habit she grew into when she was an even more skittish child. The only other common staple to her outfits are pair of headphones slung around her neck (at least when they aren't over her ears, that is).
