St. Patrick's Day, a day which was renowned world wide for turning the rest of the populace, no matter who you were, where you lived, all were Irish tonight. Toasts to be made, and alcohol to be drank on a day most notable for the drinking binges it put people on. Though even for some, this day was just another work day of the week. So was the case for one Amakura Ayane, currently sat in the passenger side seat of a car. The night sky casting it's glow across the black hood and it's metallic paint job, one of the smaller things that most anyone wouldn't notice. She would be of no exception to that rule as her mind was clearly set to other things, most importantly the task at hand. "You sure you want to do this Aya-chan?" A man's voice would call out, breaking her free of her trance. Causing her green eye's to shift to the side, and spy the driver.
A rather young and well dressed man, Mori Kaji was his name. He seen batting his black and blonde bangs from his eyes as he looked her way. Doing his best to look uninterested and retain that cool aura about himself, yet it was easy for her to see as well as hear a slight concern in his voice. After all, where the car was parked, was not in the best of neighborhoods. The surrounding area was dingy, and even dirty, buildings eroded away from years of weather abuse and yet no one in their right mind would come to this neck of the woods to fix it, not with the recent happenings. The crime rate and resulting bloodshed for more than enough to keep anyone with the sense away. Still, with a solemn nod, she would seem dead set on what she was doing. "You want get to the bottom of this don't you?" She would fire back in a brash tone, showing a bit of fire in her words.
It would be all that he needed to hear as it turned out, he would simply allow a grin to form on his lips. He digging into the inside pocket of his jacket to pull out a pack of cigarettes. After retrieving one, he would of course hold the pack out, offering it out to this woman who merely held a hand up to decline. Shrugging to himself he would naturally put them back where he had found them as he lit the end of the cigarette after placing it in his mouth. Taking a deep drag he would allowing his head to recline back, easing himself in the driver's seat enough and allowing a exaggerated sigh to escape him. "So what's the plan then, boss?" He would question, only causing Ayane to showcase a bit of frustration. Face hardening and a look of disappointment reading through her expression. It was always like this young man to take things to lightly.
Though, that would of course be the beauty of their partnership, he whom was far too relaxed, and near lazy to her head hotted, brash and passionate attitude. "Focus will ya'?" She would interject and reach a hand over to give him a slight slap in the stomach, nearly knocking the cigarette from his mouth as he would instinctively react to this. "Look, it's simple, I go in, you and the others come in ten minutes after me. Just stick to the briefing, if you stayed awake long enough to hear it." Her last statement would be said with a bit of a huff as her arms would soon find themselves crossed over her chest, putting her weight back as she sat back in her seat, a visual showing of the patience she was losing already.
It would only seem to amuse Kaji who would only let a warm smile cross his lips. "Yeah, yeah, I know. You just be careful Aya-chan." Not even turning to face him, this woman would simply exit the car, exiting from the left side which was closest to the building she had her sights set on. It was but a simple pub in the downtown district, sketchy not even a word that would do it justice. She was however fitting the bill of much of the other hoodlums running about. Ayane dressed in a black jacket which had it sleeves pulled up to her elbows, various chains hanging from the sides as well as a few anarchist patches sewed onto it. A ripped and torn shirt under that, exposing bits and pieces of skin, mostly around the stomach region. Finished off by a black and also slightly tattered miniskirt, exposing her bare legs down to a pair of combat boots.
Looking to both sides of the street just to confirm things, she would give herself a quiet patting down, running both hands down the sides of her jacket. Her right hand stopping just shy of her waist as she would feel the side arm in it's holster, hidden away under the material. It was all she needed to feel more at ease about the situation it seemed as she would make her way inside. The moment that door opened, an immediate feeling of repulsion would settle in. The old wooden door would slightly swing open, letting a loud creak out. The inside atmosphere would be all it took to overpower that however. Still it couldn't do anything but worsen the other senses assaulted for this woman. The absolutely overpowering smell of smoke and booze wafting almost instantly into her face.
Her face would contort to show a slight bit of disgust at the smell as even hanging around Kaji wasn't this bad. It would take her but a moment before she would regain herself and enter. Immediately her eyes having to readjust to the dingy aura this place had. Bad lighting which was made worse by the thick air of smoke, the near deafening sounds of those in attendance tonight. It was hard for her to gather even a basic thought, let alone find who she was after. It would only be after a short few minutes of shoving her way through the masses, that she would need to break free from the constant bumping and pushing of those enjoying St. Patties Day. Somehow there would be an open spot at the bar with not that many people around. Quickly she would slip in to occupy that spot.
It not just a moment after she seated herself that a loud sigh would escape her, this woman's elbows coming to rest on the bar's table top and her face resting in her hands. Practically peeling her face from her hands, her green eyes would survey the area, groups of people cheering for this person as he chugged beer after beer. Others just falling over one another as they tried to dance the night away at the old school jukebox, and yet they all had something in common, they weren't the ones she was after. Frustration had already began to sat in, and the bartender would offer an out, having managed to get away from the masses and ready to serve a potential customer. "No, no thank you." Ayane would have to politely decline, allowing him to go back to those who were buying.
She still had several minutes before the rest of her people would show up and hopefully they could help out, because with this many people she was getting no where fast. "What seems to be troubling you, lass?" A voice would call from her side, a distinct Irish accent detected by her ears. A noticeable twitch in her brow, she couldn't help but look to her right, and be both shocked and nearly awed by the fact that what sat next to her was, well, what it was. Had it not only been for the fact that the seat next to her had been empty just a moment ago, it would have been enough to raise her suspicion, yet as she looked at him, she couldn't help but take in a few details. The wardrobe, his hat, complete with the buckles on the shoes, the green tint to everything he wore, and the undeniable short stature of this man. The way his legs simply kicked freely from the stool he sat on, not able to reach the floor like her own.
"Hey little man, just what are you supposed to be?" She would ask, a slight grin forming on her lips, his presence alone seeming to ease the frustrations she was feeling. Then again, it was hard not too when she just knew exactly what he was supposed to be, leaving her rather curious to just how much taller she was than him. Still, this man would play it off, showing a bit of mock shock to that question of hers. "Well, isn't obvious my dear? I'm a leprechaun." It would be all she needed to hear to allow a small laugh to escape her. It was preposterous, that was to be sure, yet it was so appropriate on the night that it was. "You know, it's not nice to laugh, dear." It was actually rather admirable to Ayane, just how dedicated this guy was to his character tonight, yet she couldn't help herself. Still she would soon get control as she would raise a hand in an apologetic manner. "You're right, my bad. So what brings you here, if you don't mind me asking."
She couldn't seem to bring herself to wipe the grin off her face, but this man didn't seem to mind so much as he wore a cheery grin of his own. "Well, I'd wager the same thing that brings you here, Officer." It would be like a ton of bricks hitting her in the face, how did this guy know she was a cop? The shock showing on her face in the form of her grin slowly dissipating and her actions locking up. She didn't even need to say anything as this man would pick up on it, letting a cheery laugh out, wagging a finger at her as if he knew what she was thinking, and what was going through her mind was simple, "how?". "Oh, us wee people have our magical ways alright." He would announce with another hearty laugh. Had her men slipped up and exposed themselves? There was no way for anyone to know of this operation, much less her status as one of the cities finest.
She couldn't help but feel this wave of uneasiness in her as she looked on at this man who merely smiled back innocently at her. Whether it was for the best or not, this situation and uneasiness would be cut away by the presence of a rather imposing man, though only through the reputation which exceeded him. The man was Enzo Giovanni, an Italian man, tall and somewhat lanky, though he was certainly meant to be feared, and her eyes would spy why even as she herself already knew. The white tape around the hands being the biggest tip off, aside the reports from victims and witnesses. This man was a bare knuckle, a champion if her report was accurate, though he was merely a goon, working for someone higher up than himself, simply the muscle of an operation. The man would only run both of his hands through his slicked back blonde hair as he eyed Ayane. "Well, by the luck of the Irish, I think he's got a thing for you, lass." Her little and almost forgotten friend would be quick to pipe in.
This only causing a somewhat conflicted glance from her as she shot her eye's his way, he seeming to be having a jolly time. On one hand she wanted to be mad at him, but at the other, his knowledge seemed to worry her. It wouldn't matter however as Enzo would simply just ignore him it appeared, motioning with a hand in her direction. "'Ey you, my friend just over 'ere has got a thing for you. Why don't ya' get your sweet ass over 'ere." The man would crudely speak, showing a large amount of arrogance in his voice as he did. It nearly caused her to snarl in response, yet she would retain her cover of sorts. Enzo had indeed been on her list, and he was a lead she needed. Though, not wanting to simply leave this so called "Leprechaun" without a proper greeting, she would turn her attention back to him, only to find her eye's widening slightly. He was gone, just simply vanished as quickly as he had appeared it seemed, although in his place on the counter, there sat a four leaf clover.
It would cause her a moment of hesitation before she would turn her attention back to Enzo. The image of that little man never leaving the back of her mind, though she knew she had a job to do. Mocking a smile on her face, she would brightly beam up to Enzo. "Lead the way, handsome." She would sweetly call to him. Clearly playing to his ego as he would smugly grin with a nod of his head. "Ya' got good taste, I can tell you that much. Let's say things don't work out, you come find me, and just maybe we'll make something happen." Though she would outwardly giggle at the gesture, on the inside she couldn't help but feel her skin crawl at being hit on by this criminal.
She would be forced to stile a loud groan from herself as she would motion for this man to simply lead the way. She gently rising from her seat as she would take point behind Enzo, he would lead her through the masses of the bar. Surprised she would be to see these people simply part like the sea for them as he walked her through until they would appear on the other side. He walking her toward a circular booth in the corner of the building where five individuals sat. Four of which who were obviously grunts, lower on the list than Enzo, but the man who sat in the middle, he was certainly different. A rather large and imposing man, whom had he been standing up would have simply dwarfed her frame. Unlike Enzo whom was lanky, this man was near pure muscle, and looked like someone whom could easily break her in half. He of course was Viktor Thoresen, and her main target for the evening.
Viktor, known for leading one of the biggest drug rings in the city, making a fortunate, and aside the obvious, there was certainly one glaring issue with all this. Where the money was going too, as he was certainly not the brains of the outfit? It was a question she needed answered and the best course was to get Viktor himself to talk, which would be the reason for tonight's charade. This Pub being known to be a hit spot for him, a hang out of sorts, though it was regarded as a no fly zone for the Police, and for good reason. Not many were brave enough to dare step through those doors.
She would of course find herself standing before the table where this man would tilt his head back suddenly, flipping his long hair to the back of his head, allowing his vision clear. She finding herself staring back into a pair of eyes as green as her own. It wouldn't be long before an apparent grunt of approval was heard from him. "You know, you're not half bad." His deep and authoritative voice would call out, only furthering the imposing nature he held. It wouldn't be but a moment before the other men at the table would slide out from their seats, allowing a space for her to sit now. "Why don't you take a seat here next to me, enjoy the night." He would once more speak, his tone unchanging, almost bored. It was apparent he must have done this so often it were merely routine, and she just happened to be picked out of the pack. Forcing a smile to her face, she would comply, sliding into the booth next to this man who immediately swung an arm over her shoulders, pulling her in close with a smug smile.
Unlike Enzo who at least dressed nicely, a suit vest, tie and button up shirt with slacks, mostly a black white or grey color scheme, with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows. Viktor seemed to be a lot less refined, simple even. Wearing a black tactical vest with nothing underneath that, a pair of black pants, and boots, and a pair of fingerless gloves on his hands. To say the least, Ayane was almost immediately put off by this aspect alone, let alone his ties to organized crime, and ties she would find out in due time. Still for the time being, she would merely have to put her feelings aside and engage this man in small talk for the time being, at least until her unit was in place. Although it was just mere minutes, it felt like an eternity to her, but finally, the door would swing open and in would walk Kaji arm and arm with a female, Ayane had instantly recognized it as a female officer she had seen around.
Much like him, the rest of her unit poured in, one after another, all arm and arm with various other officers. It was all she could do to not smile at this, they practically saving her at this point. Viktor would be in mid sentence before he would feel Ayane slide closer to him, she reaching her right hand into her jacket only to pull out her police issued pistol and point it up under the jaw of this man. "Viktor Thoresen, you are under arrest." She would practically growl, disgusted at the time she spent here. Of course, Enzo and the other men would not be oblivious to this, and they would go to draw their weapons as well. "I wouldn't do that if I were you." Kaji's voice would call out with a yawn. This on;y causing these men to look back and see that the group that had walked in were all holding pistols in their direction, only causing an all the more satisfied grin to form on Ayane's face.
Though it wouldn't last as a bellowing laughter could be heard, Viktor was enjoying himself. It was as if having a gun pointed to the underside of his jaw didn't phase the man. "So this is the plan huh, sugarplum? To take me in?" It was clear he wasn't impressed, seen smiling and would continue to do so as Ayane pushed the gun further under his chin in an attempt to shut him up. "No, we want to know who you're working for. Tell us that, and we may cut you a deal." Her tone was low and harsh, trying to intimidate him, but he would only chuckle at this. Tired of the games, Ayane would slide herself out of the booth, never allowing her gun to leave Viktor, whether it was physically touching him, or just simply aimed his way. It would almost instantly prove costly however as she would stand in front of the booth, now looking down upon him. "Come on, get up!" She would command of him, only getting a shrug of his shoulders in response. Everything would only kick off from here.
Quite literally in some regard as Viktor would throw a heavy knee into the bottom side of that table. Knocking it loose of the old screws holding it down, and with a well placed boot, he would send it at Ayane who would be caught off guard. The table striking her and knocking her to the ground, her gun sliding across the ground away from her. "Aya-chan!" Kaji would call out in concern, but he would soon have problems all his own. The rest of the bar, seemingly have been oblivious to the happenings here would respond to the table, sending people who may have been drinking to much into a frenzy and causing a large scale bar fight to break out, a brawl to be more accurate. It would catch the officers by surprise to allow Enzo and the rest of Viktor's men to capitalize. They rushing in to attack, Enzo throwing a heavy hook into Kaji's face.
Viktor meanwhile would be more focused on Ayane, she who was picking herself up from the table smacking her. She would soon find her hair behind grabbed by this man who violently ripped her to her feet. Planting his shoulder into her midsection and lifting her off the ground into a bear hug position. From, here he would simply rush for the bar and slam her spine first into the edge of it. Naturally she would cry out from this, after all, it was a man who weighed near two-hundred and fifty pounds ramming her small frame into a sturdy piece of lumber. She wouldn't have much time to "enjoy" that one however as Viktor would be quick to show his strength, lifting her up again, only this time over his head and tossing her over the bar where her body would collide with the shelves of booze. They giving way and leaving her to fall violently to the ground as bottles would break all around, soaking her.
It would be some time before she woke up from this, waking up to Kaji sitting over her, shaking her. The side of his face bruised from Enzo, yet he still wore that carefree smile on his face. "W-what happened?" She would ask in a haze, still trying to get her bearings from this. Something that would only get Kaji to chuckle and pinch her cheeks as if she were "cute" in some way from this. Had she not just been slammed into a wall, she would have hit him for this and bruised his other cheek. "They got away" He would announce in such a way that suggested it wasn't a big deal. This would only cause her to groan, as she would find herself nearly allowing her face to rest upon the broken glass and alcohol soaked floor just out of shame in herself. How could she allow herself to be blind sided like that?
"Come on and wake up, we just got a call on the radio, something big." He would announce, practically dragging her to her feet with his "help". Still, the pair, albeit she was far more hurt than him, would exit the bar, her pride heavily injured by the loss and soon get into their car. He having mentioned the call, would drive the duo just around the block where they could already see the red and blue lights of the Police Cruisers. For a moment, she forgot about her bruised ribs as she leaned up, wincing only slightly as she forced herself out of the car in a hurry to see what was going on. Rushing past the police tape and other officers whilst Kaji handled the verification of their status. She would happen onto the scene and what a scene it was. Amongst the tipped over trash can was a body, but not just any body, it was Enzo.
It caused a bit of turmoil in this woman to see someone that she tried to arrest just a short few hours ago, it still being night at this point, now lying dead amongst the garbage. "He looks like he's been crushed by some huge friggin' guy." One of the patrolmen would say aloud, only causing their commanding officer to immediately shut them down on that theory. Still, Ayane couldn't help but feel drawn to the scene, and as she moved in closer to Enzo, she took notice so something under one of the trash bags. Confused at first, she would move it and find what seemed to be a business card under it. Primarily white, it would show a large decal of a four leaf clover on it, her mind immediately racing back to the bar, and written in bright green text this card would simply read. "Come find me." Flipping the card over, she would find the details to making that possible. "By the luck of the Irish indeed." She would mutter to herself in a happy tone.
With a bounce in her step and a smile on her face, she would leave the clean up to the others as she would make her way for Kaji, holding up the card for him to see. "What's that?" He would ask, scratching the back of his neck in a way that would have normally earned him a scowl from this woman, yet in her current mood, she couldn't help but ignore it. "It's our next lead, now come on, and let's go." Tucking the card into her jacket pocket, she would practically race back to the car, almost no longer feeling the pain in her sides as she would follow up on that new lead she spoke of.
