This was literal and absolute crap. He was not a delivery boy. He was a trained mercenary, hired to defend his clients up to the point of giving his life all for a paycheck. Yet, as he walked down the steps of the big corporate building after delivering that metal briefcase, he couldn’t feel like anything other than some wet-behind the ears punk delivery boy. He’d even dressed up professionally for this! He was gonna have to get his suit dry cleaned. Thank god he had three, but, still! This was infinitely stupid!
Unbuttoning the top button of his suit while walking down the crowded city street, he kept his face solemn and stoney. Appearances were everything, after all. He lifted his shades to rest them atop his thick, partially sun bleached hair as he looked through his emails. Hm, nothing new from SSS. Agent Fu had his plate pretty full for the rest of the week, though. He had a businessman’s daughter to escort while she went with some friends and family to buy a wedding dress; apparently she was big even over seas, so the press might get a little too close to he and her crew. He’d be working with others. Then, he had to meet up with the regional overseer of SSS to give a report on his client’s satisfaction and get a review on his ratings. Had to make sure everyone was satisfied.
Putting his phone away after checking his text messages--a few girls he dated casually expressed interest in meeting up over the weekend, if he had time (he would be sure to make some)--and returning his shades to his face, Mitch moved with the crowd. It was pretty thing, actually. It was just after lunch time and there was no real reason for most of these people to be out and about. It looked to be house-spouses with their preschool kids.
”Mommy, that guy looks foreign.”
… he could understand them, but when the mother chided her son, he felt no need to say anything. Spotting the sign for a whole foods specialty shop, he decided to stop in. Might be nice to surprise his grandma with a little something nice. That, and he could use a semi-real lunch before he got on that train ride home...
